Why Husbands Are Allergic To Doing Laundry

...wait--this just in--our husbands CAN do laundry!

It's just that we haven't expressed the necessity of their assistant in this frikkin annoying key task in the weekly running of our household.

My homie and fellow Execumama, Denene of MyBrownBaby and are have launched Honey Do: The Web Series to inspire the conversations that just might get us some help in the home. Of course, there's humor involved, but let's remember that these "little things" can lead to big issues in our relationships.

Denene and I are eternally grateful to MyCulture.TV, brainchild of Lamar and Ronnie Tyler of Tyler New Media for bringing our manuscript to life.

To learn more about the purpose and mission of MyCulture.TV, see the official Black and Married With Kids announcement. Oh, and if you're a Facehead, "LIKE" MyCulture.TV on Facebook too!

Ok, now pass this post on to your girlfriends, strike up some great conversation, then TALK TO YOUR HUSBAND!

Knock Knock’s Playtime Pads for Kids: A guest post from Marley

Hi this is Marley. I'm doing what my mom calls a guest post. I'm typing this myself and everything! Cool right?

I'm writing to tell you about the cool notepads my mom got from a company named Knock Knock to test them and see what Sage and I think of the pads.

One of the pads I got is called,"How I Feel." It's a very good set-up. I haven't actully filled out any sheets yet. I think it is a very good idea. It's kind of a feelings organizer. I think children will have fun filling out the sheet while also expressing themselves.

Another one of the  pads I got was" I read a book" That one would also be good pad for children to fill out. But also they are reading a book around their age appropriate level. They also should read as many books by themselves as possible. That way they get to work on their reading skills while having fun reading and reading for a purpose.

Another pad I got was, "I tried it " That one is also a very good one. It allows children to write down their opinioin while trying something new. They will really love whatever they are doing as long as they are not being forced to do it.

    That's my report. Bye!!
P.S. Mommy put in all the pictures and links to the website of the people who sent us the stuff.

Spa Week 2011: Count Me In!

I seldom skimp on taking care of me, and I'm particularly proud of that because I'm a self-employed, married, double-girl-raising mama, so it would be very easy to leave Self out of the equation!

I exercise often sometimes, I meditate and pray daily, and I am quick to tell my daughters to back off, because Mama needs a moment -- just kidding (actually, I'm dead serious).

Last Thursday, I took another opportunity to pay attention to myself, and it came in the form of an absolutely divine facial from a Natural Body Spa and Shop location here in metro Atlanta.

    The description read...
50 Min Primavera Purifying Facial (regular $85) Individually tailored to meet your skin’s unique needs, our signature facial begins with a thorough skin analysis. Your esthetician will then cleanse and tone the skin.  While your skin is rejuvenating, enjoy a stress-relieving massage of hands, shoulders and décolleté.
    ...and I was SOLD!

Sally, my esthetician, is really a healer fairy from Fairytopia, but I'll keep her secret and just call her a well-trained, highly skilled happy maker!  Also, special thanks to my tour guide, Assistant Spa Director, Danielle Mason, who hipped me to some of the best Cool Factors of Natural Body's 10Ten Party offerings.

Did you know you could host a girl's afternoon out, or bridal shower, or "just-because" event at 10Ten Nail Bar, and the cost of the venue is included? Yep, you pay for the mani/pedi awesomeness, plus gratiuty--everything else is eye candy. #LOVETHAT

Why Entrepreneurship and Parenthood Give Me Happy Dance Syndrome

As if I needed another "justifier" for why I gladly ride the Wave of Awesomeness that is working for myself.  Is it challenging at times? Yeppers! Do I second-guess the decision? For the first three years, yep, I sure did! But now, this stuff right hey-yure makes it all worthwhile!

Pick up awesome birthday kid from school right before she gets on the bus. Pick up other, equally awesome kid from pre-k and head out for hot chocolates, boisterous laughter, and window shopping on a beautiful, almost-Spring day! Recipe for Happy Dance Syndrome: methinks!!
